Hello my name is Haruta Otaki, a 11th grade student from Japan.
In my opinion, one achieves peace when a certain need is met. It could be physiological, safety, love, esteem, or self actualization. So today, I want to introduce you to my idea, one that reaches a helping hand, and offers all an opportunity to fulfill their respective needs they so much desire; a new implementation to modern education.
Living overseas for a total of 7 years, I was able to notice two aspects normalized in the education system of Japan: lack of lectures on social relevance, and insufficient career education. Instead, present education held an extreme focus on extrinsic learning intentions resulting in hypercompetitiveness and overwhelming demands for students. Due to the rapid technological advancement and constant change, youth were also victimized to the intensifying anxiety of the future.
To guide people to job-search clarity and high self concept, I founded Find Your Career 2030. “FYC 2030” provides an algorithmic assessment for students from grades 8~9, which analyzes the test-taker’s personality and links them to careers of 2030 where their personalities are in most demand. The FYC examination is divided into two phases : situation based questions and technical skill evaluation. In our situation-based questions, we compel students to tackle real-life problems using their personal beliefs; It works to analyze their personality and output their 4 most fit career fields of the future. In technical skill evaluation, we aim to narrow down these 4 career fields into 1, and introduce 3 emerging careers in 2030 from that line of work. Through the project, we look to trigger the demand for self actualization, and cast light on the unpredictable futures of youth.
Currently, the 1st phase of the FYC examination is public. It has impacted the lives of over 170 young people across 25 countries – displaying an accuracy of 83.6%, and an approval of effectiveness and methodology from 94.1% of users. Next month, we are on track to introduce the assessment to junior high schools in my community.
We hope you will join us in our collective mission to achieve personal success for the upcoming generations of youth.
Together, let’s resurrect the fun and exciting aspects of learning, and lead the way to a brighter future – one where there is peace.
Thank you.
